I create narratives based on present and historical experiences from the African American perspective from injustice, inequity, systematic racism, and race relationships/ interaction. Inspired by Harlem Renaissance artist Jacob Lawrence, his use of basic fundamental elements in his work consisting of abstract figurative shapes, symmetrical and asymmetrical compositions, as well as his representational content of American History, influence my creative process and production of artworks. Traveling to other countries has also influenced my artwork, which I appreciate the diversity of people and cultural environment that inspires me.
